Event Insights : Gain more knowledge on 2026 Urinary Catheterisation Workshop - for publication and research. Nurses are the leading healthcare provider performing this procedure. Research, however, suggests that catheter-associated urinary tract infection is the most nosocomial infection worldwide of healthcare-associated urinary tract infections, 80% of which occur in catheterised patients. In addition to infection, urinary catheterisation is associated with a number of complications including, bleeding, trauma, urinary retention, and urosepsis.
