ISLS Annual Meeting 2027

Cultural, institutional, linguistic, socioeconomic, ecological, and political contexts shape learning. ISLS 2027 begins with local realities—people, places, histories, resources, languages, and community knowledge—as the essential foundations for learning design and research.

Learning technologies and innovations are most meaningful when they are developed with attention to the practices, needs, values, and possibilities of the communities in which they will be used. This includes examining how technologies are designed, adapted, taken up, and transformed across diverse settings.

By examining both what is shared and what differs across contexts, the learning sciences can build knowledge that travels responsibly. ISLS 2027 invites the global community to connect local research and practice, learn across differences, and develop theories and methods with wider relevance and impact.
