Conference on Environmental Science and Technology

Since 1989, the International Conference on Environmental Science and Technology (CEST) has brought together scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, policymakers and civil society to present current research on established and emerging environmental issues. Over nearly four decades, CEST has grown into a forum where academia, industry and public administration meet, and where research, ideas and practical solutions support a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable environment.

CEST2027 marks the 20th edition of the series. It is organised by the Global Network on Environmental Science and Technology (Global NEST) jointly with the University of the Aegean (Greece), the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece) and the University of Salerno (Italy).  

The conference comes at a time when environmental pressures are increasingly interconnected. Climate change is accelerating the depletion and contamination of water resources, while more frequent extreme weather events are testing the resilience of infrastructures and communities. Biodiversity, already weakened by habitat loss and pollution, faces further pressure as ecosystems shift. At the same time, the transition to circular and bio-based economic models and the rapid development of digital and AI-driven tools are opening new ways to monitor, manage and restore the environment.
